Headlight Restoration Service
Restore Your Headlights, Get Better Visibility, and Make Your Car Look Newer
Do your headlights have a foggy-hazy look to them? Maybe you’ve noticed your visibility at night or during the rainy times is much lower (thank you Raleigh weather). No worries, you don’t have to replace them, nor do you have to open up your lens (as many people think the haziness is from the inside of the lens. Most of the time it’s not).
The Ultimate Headlight Restoration Process:
We don’t use a generic headlight repair kit that you find at your local auto parts store. We go through a full 8-step sanding, compounding, polishing, and protection process to offer the best results.
1 Start sanding headlight with 800 grit
The first round of sanding is where the oxidization is removed. You'll see a lot of slurry come off.
2 Sand headlight with 1,000 grit
As we move up the process, we remove less oxidization. The focus now is to refine the sanding marks.
3 Sand headlight with 1,500 grit
You can start to see a noticeable difference in the clarity of the headlights.
4 Sand headlight with 2,000 grit
You start to see the sanding scratches disappear from the headlights.
5 Sand headlights with 3,000 grit
This is the final sanding step. The headlight is looking much clearer
6 Compound the headlights
Using a cutting disc, compound, and machine polisher, we'll remove the micro sanding marks.
7 Polish the headlights
Finally, we'll refine the cutting step to bring out maximum clarity with a light polish and polishing pad.
8 Protect the headlights
For protection, we'll apply a ceramic spray coating. This will provide durable protection.

Headlight Restoration FAQ
Do you come to me?
Yes, we’re mobile-based so we’d clean clean your vehicle at your home, apartment, or work location. We service the Greater Raleigh area and surrounding areas like Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Chapel Hill, Durham and many more.
How long does this service take?
It depends on the size and condition, but it typically takes 45 to 90 minutes to complete. If the condition is severe, it’ll take longer.
Can you restore any headlights?
Like many things, once the headlights get to a certain point, there is only so much we can do to restore them to a like-new condition. Your headlights can look better after we’re done, but there can also be permanent damage.
Why do my lens get ugly?
Your headlights, just like your paint, have a clear coat on them. As the suns beats on it week after week, the clear coat starts to deteriorate. Eventually what was the clear coat turns into an ugly yellow layer gunk.
Considering the weather in Raleigh, your headlights are exposed to various natural elements all year and if you park your car directly in the sun for most of the day, that’s only going to add to the damage. Because of the material of the headlights, the clear coat on them don’t last nearly as much as the clear coat on the paint.
How do I keep my headlights looking good?
It can be a bit tricky. Typical waxes and sealants will only protect your car for so long. If you park your car in the shade most of the time, then they’ll simply last longer than if you park outside in the sun most of the time.
You can apply a sealant or wax to your headlights every 3 to 5 weeks. This can take less than 15 minutes to do.
